It involves writing and or co-writing if necessary, then making sure the musical project successfully attains to or meets common practice procedures and techniques for recording and mastering which are deemed industry standard.

Once the recordings are successfully completed, the project once approved, is delivered to the artist record company or management for marketing, promotion and distribution to markets local, national or international.

Orchestration and conducting music for a recording session.
Could involve writing orchestrations for sweetening a vocal track or set of songs for a determined style of music. In some instances would involve writing instrumental music for a film or documentary and after the music is agreed on and approved by the music supervisor, the music would be rehearsed and recorded with an orchestra.

This is most likely to be the customizing of a song for a specific style of music. Such songs are redone after having been made very successful there-by capturing the attention of other artist. When an artist reinvents a song which was previously recorded by another musician, it is usually because the song has touched that artist in a special way. Therefore they have a desire to express the song in a way that is unique to them.
